First Filipino Saint Lorenzo Ruiz Enshrined at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Basilica in Guam

Consul General Bayani S. Mercado of the Philippine Consulate General in Guam and Mr. Alex Gagaring, President of the Filipino Community of Guam, look on as Archbishop Anthony Apuron of the Archdiocese of Agana, Guam blesses the image of San Lorenzo Ruiz during the enshrinement ceremony held on 15 August 2010 at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Basilica.

The image of San Lorenzo Ruiz was brought to Guam by Ms. Josephine Darang, Vice Chair of The Lorenzo Ruiz Global Ministry.  The Global Ministry aims to promote devotion to San Lorenzo all over the world, especially among Filipino migrants and overseas workers.  To date, Guam is the fourth place where the image has been enshrined after Singapore, Macau and HongKong.
