12/12/2012: UPDATE ON TYPHOON PABLO (International code: Bopha)

Based on the latest situation report released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Typhoon Pablo has moved out of the Philippine area of responsibility.

As of 11 December 2012, 714 were reported dead; 1,906 injured and 890 are still missing. 487,364 families are affected by the typhoon’s devastation. Thirty (30)  provinces of Regions IV-B, VI, VII,VIII,IX,X,XI, XII and CARAGA were affected.

CARAGA is composed of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands and Butuan City.

The total cost of damages was placed at PHP 7,116,388,040.07. Damage to infrastructure is PHP 3,479,131,300 while damage to agriculture is PHP 3,618,868,247.07. According to the Department of Agriculture, about 26,160 hectares of crops in 18 provinces from 6 regions in Mindanao (Regions IX, X, XI, XII, XIII and ARMM) were affected.

A total of fifty (50) provinces, municipalities and cities in Regions IV-B, VII, X, XI, and CARAGA were declared under the state of calamity.

The Philippine Consulate General continues to encourage kababayans, other Guam and CNMI residents interested to assist the typhoon affected communities to send their monetary donations directly to NDRRMC, DSWD and Philippine Red Cross. Monetary donations are the most flexible and would therefore be appreciated by the said institutions:
