The dedication ceremony was highlighted by a short procession and blessing of the image loaded on a flower-laden carroza inside the church. It was followed by a Holy Mass officiated by Monsignor Brigido Arroyo, Parish Priest of the St. Anthony-St. Victor Church, and concelebrated by Fr. Karl Vila, Fr. Val Rodriguez, Fr. Mario Ortiz and Fr. Rudy Arejola, all Filipino priests assigned in the said parish.
The dedication of Our Lady of Manaoag to St. Anthony-St. Victor Church was spearheaded by Ms. Josephine C. Darang, a Religious Columnist of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, in coordination with the Pangasinan Ladies Club and the Federation of Pangasinanses in Guam. The three-foot image was donated by Mrs. Edna Ouano Toral, a devotee from Cebu.
The image, which is made of fiber glass by Mr. Al G. Arriesgado, arrived in Guam together with Ms. Josie Darang and Mrs. Edna Toral last August 17 and was first brought to the Philippine Consulate General. It was brought to St. Anthony-St. Victor Church the following day to be placed in a Philippine-made carroza adorned with beautiful flowers for a procession in the church and blessing by Monsignor Arroyo.
To add joy and solemnity to the celebration, the Powervoice Choral Group, composed of eleven members from Ilagan, Isabela, also arrived in Guam to sing during the dedication ceremony. Their trip to Guam was sponsored by Mrs. Aurora Lazo, President of SM Lazo Medical Center Manila.
A nine-day novena was also held from 09 to 17 August 2012 at the above-mentioned church by the Filipino-American devotees in Guam, led by the Pangasinan Ladies Club, Pangasinanses of Guam as well as the Consulate General’s officers and staff in preparation for the dedication ceremony
In his message after the mass, Monsignor Arroyo expressed his deep appreciation to Ms. Darang and Mrs. Toral for bringing the image of Our Lady of Manaoag to Guam as she inspires unity and hope in the religious community. END
