7TH EXHIBIT OF THE GUAM FILIPINO ARTISTS (GFA) OPENS AT THE CONSULATE GENERAL

The 7th Exhibit of the Guam Filipino Artists (GFA) at the Philippine Consulate General in Agana was opened on Friday, 03 August 2012, featuring GFA artists Ms. Ruby "Ubeng" Fabro-Torres and Mr. Arnaldo "Neil" Calderon.

Both Ms. Torres and Mr. Calderon are teachers at the Saint Anthony Catholic School in Tamuning, Guam.  Ms. Torres teaches art for kindergarten to fourth grade students, while Mr. Calderon teaches computers and is the Musical Director for the school.

The exhibit showcased the charcoal portraits of Ms. Torres, as well as her faux glass wall decors made of recycled plastic bottles.  Mr. Calderon's exhibited works are comprised of photographs taken on Guam and from his various travels in the Philippines and the US Mainland.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Consul General Bayani V. Mangibin, Vice Speaker Benjamin Cruz of the 31st Guam Legislature, Monsignor Brigido Arroyo of Saint Anthony Parish, President Joseph Artero-Cameron of the Department of Chamorro Affairs, who is also the Executive Director of the Guam Council for the Arts and Humanities Agency (CAHA) and CAHA Chairperson Monica Guzman.

Other guests during the opening of the exhibit include Father Carl Vila of Saint Anthony Parish in Tamuning, Sr. Doris San Agustin, RSM, Principal of Saint Anthony Catholic School, Nissan Infinity Marketing Manager Ron Castro, GFA President Rolly Zepeda, families and friends of the featured artists, as well as the other officers and members of the GFA.END
