The Filipino Community of Guam (FCG) held its last donation drive for the typhoon Sendong (Washi) victims last Saturday, 14 January 2012 at Harmon Manhattan Plaza in Guam. Consul Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian and the Philippine Consulate General staff, together with Guam Senators Sam Mabini and Dennis Rodriguez Jr., volunteers from Filipino Associations of Guam as well as the Guam Police Department were present to assist and show support to FCG in the said initiative.

More than fifty (50) walk-in donors came to give their donations for the typhoon Sendong victims.  FCG was able to collect US$ 3,000 check and cash donations from different businesses, organizations and individuals during that said campaign drive. Likewise, it has received approximately seven truck-load of in kind donations such as non-perishable food items, canned goods, used clothing, among others.

As of now, FCG has raised approximately US$ 50,000 from its relief drives since last December 2011. FCG has donated US$ 20,000 to Ayuda Foundation, which will send the money to the nonprofit organization, MedShare, for the purchase of medical supplies for Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital in Cagayan de Oro City,

According to Mr. Emelio Uy, businessmen and Chairman of the FCG board of directors, FCG is now preparing one 40-footer container of relief goods to be sent this week to Ateneo in Cagayan de Oro City. (Photos courtesy of Ms. Gina Tabonares Reilly)
