17/11/2011: FILIPINO COMMUNITY OF GUAM PAROL MAKING CONTEST
FILIPINO COMMUNITY OF GUAM PAROL MAKING CONTEST
The Philippine Consulate General in Agana wishes to invite the public to participate in the Parol Making Contest organized by the Filipino Community of Guam (FCG), which will be held on Sunday, 04 December 2011 at the Sampaguita Pavilion, Ypao Beach Park.
The Parol has become the most familiar Christmas ornament for Filipinos not just in the Philippines, but in any country where there is a Filipino community. Next to the Belen (Nativity Scene), it is one of the most popular ways we express our anticipation of and excitement for the Christmas season. It represents Filipino innovation and creativity as the Parol can be made from various materials -- from the traditional Japanese paper or colored cellophane to the modern capiz shells with intricate designs and lights.
Those interested to join the contest may secure copies of the official registration form from the Consulate General or from the following:
1) National Office Supply stores in Agana Shopping Center and the Manhattan Plaza Building in Harmon and
2) Golden Marketing in Tamuning.
The registration forms should be submitted to these stores or sent by fax to 646.7853. Registration begins on 21 November 2011 and will end on 03 December 2011 at 12:00 Noon.
