31/10/2011: Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam Set to Start OAV Registration on 02 November 2011
The Philippine Consulate General in Guam is set to start the continuing registration for Overseas Absentee Voters (OAV) on Wednesday, 02 November 2011.
In preparation for the start of the OAV Registration, representatives of the Consulate General participated in the OAV Registration Training conducted by the Commission on Elections from 10-12 October 2011 in Hong Kong. The said training was replicated in Guam on 19 October 2011 in order to train the other personnel of the Consulate General.
Information campaign on OAV Registration was also launched in mid-October through a press release circulated to all of the Consulate General's media contacts and the Filipino community. The press release is likewise posted in the Consulate General's website (www.philippinesguam.org) and Facebook page (Agana PCG).
In addition, Consul Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian and Vice Consul Maria Paz Cortes visited the Filipino radio talk show Damdaming Pinoy last Saturday, 22 October 2011 to announce the start of the OAV Registration and to urge Filipino residents on Guam, including dual citizens, to register as OAVs in order that they may be able to vote during the upcoming May 2013 elections for Senators and Party-list Representatives.
They likewise took the opportunity to reiterate the campaign for the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) to become one of the new seven wonders of nature and encouraged everyone to vote online for the PPUR, as well as the Consulate's appeal for assistance for the victims of Typhoons Pedring and Quiel.END
