12 June 2011 – Filipinos on Guam commemorated the 113th Anniversary of Philippine Independence with a Thanksgiving Mass held at the Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores Church in Tumon, Guam’s central business district.  The mass was celebrated by Filipino priest Fr. Lito Abad and was attended by the officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General in Guam, officers and members of the Filipino Community (FCG) of Guam, Batangas and Southern Tagalog Association of Guam (BASTA) and other Filipino associations on the island.  At the end of the mass, the church choir did a moving rendition of a medley of Filipino patriotic songs including Bayan Ko, Magkaisa, and Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo.  (Right photo) Consul Kerwin Orville Tate (2nd from left) joins Filipino Community of Guam President Leah Beth Naholowaa and BASTA President Nila Orario in bringing the offertory gifts to the altar.
